Saliya Saman 9/39

At Wallasey on Saturday 29th June, Saliya Saman “Sammy” took his first ever “nine for”. In the Colwyn Bay records it is only bettered by Shri Mundhe 10/85 against Birkenhead Park in 2016 and Andre Nell’s 9/29 at Hightown in 2002. The only other “nine for” was from Frankie Van Der Merwe, against St. Helen’s in 2004, when, like on the 29th, Paul Jenkins “stole” the tenth wicket. Sammy’s achievement on July 6th was to be top run scorer for the Bay with 44 in their drawn match against Leigh.
